Room in an ancient abandoned farmhouse in France

This room is part of a 16th century farmhouse that is for sale just outside Champagne Mouton in the French département of Charente.

The house was until recently inhabited by an elderly widower. He lived very much like people lived in the 20's and 30's: without the comfort of a bathroom or flushing toilet. The house has a primitive kitchen. Heating was done with a woodstove. The house has no insulation and altough this part of France has a mild climate, winters can be damp and chilly.

The house, which is set on top of a hill and has a commanding view of the village below, is currently for sale and would make a wonderful home after being converted.
